Ambulance rams into truck, three, including patient and doctor, die

A major accident occurred near Bengaluru, in which three people, including a doctor and a patient, died. They were travelling in an ambulance which ran into a truck from behind at Neraluru gate near Attibele on Hosur road. The incident took place in the early morning hours on Thursday.

There were seven persons in the ambulance, including two doctors and a patient. Three of them died on the spot while four others were seriously injured and admitted to two private hospitals.

The deceased include the patient Anwar Khan (68) of Nallik uppam in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu, Dr Jadav Bhushan Ashok (40), of Igatpuri, Nasik district in Maharashtra and Tukaram Namdev Jamnade (38), the driver of the ambulance, from Mumbai.

Those who got injured in the accident include Dr Jithendra Biradar (30), a native of Navi Mumbai, Yousuf Khan (58), who is the brother of the deceased patient, and ambulance drivers Ashkhan Shamir Memon, and Ahmed Raja, both natives of Mumbai.

The accident took place around 5:30 am when the ambulance was headed to Chennai from Mumbai. The police said that Jamnade was driving the ambulance and he lost control and smashed into the truck, carrying vitrified tiles, near Neraluru gate.

Initial investigation has revealed that the road at the spot of the accident has an immediate uphill slope after a downhill slope where the truck was going slowly.
