COVID-19 cases fall in Sydney as restrictions eased in virus hotspots

New South Wales (NSW) recorded its lowest daily rise in COVID-19 cases on Monday, in over three weeks, as some lockdown restrictions were relaxed in Sydney.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian stated that 935 new infections had been recorded in NSW, which represents the lowest daily figure since August 27. The state registered four more deaths. As the vaccine rollout picks up pace, with 53% of the state’s adults having been fully vaccinated, certain restrictions on gatherings were eased on Monday in 12 of the worst-affected suburbs in west Sydney. Time limits for outdoor exercise were lifted, and the fully vaccinated individuals have been allowed to gather outside in groups of five… (Reuters, September 20, 2021)
