India registered slightly more than 2 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the week ending Sunday, with a 6.4% drop from the previous week. This is the lowest weekly count in around six months. 

Cases in Kerala registered a weekly drop of 8.7%, while Maharashtra recorded a decline of 6.8%. Meanwhile, cases in Mizoram increased by 8%, while those in Tamil Nadu reported a rise of 3%, compared to the previous seven days. There was a rise of 15.9% in the cases in Himachal Pradesh, while Jammu and Kashmir logged an increase of 2.9%.

The country recorded around 2,00,500 fresh infections during the week of September 20-26, compared to 2,14,221 cases reported last week. This was the fourth week in a row that saw a drop in cases in the country. (ET Healthworld – TNN, September 27, 2021)
