37% of patients suffer from long-COVID, says study

According to a study from Oxford University and the National Institute for Health Research, at least one long-term COVID-19 symptom was observed in around 37% of the patients three to six months after infection with the coronavirus.

Looking at the symptoms in more than 270,000 individuals, the researchers noted that the most common symptoms were breathing problems, fatigue, pain and anxiety. The symptoms appeared to be more frequent among those who had been hospitalized with COVID-19 and were slightly more frequently seen in women. Older individuals and men were found to have more breathing difficulties and cognitive problems, while young people and women seemed to have more headaches, abdominal symptoms and anxiety or depression… (ET Healthworld – Reuters, September 30, 2021)
