60 lakh individuals fully vaccinated against COVID in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Delhi recorded 33 new COVID-19 cases and zero deaths on Sunday, as the positivity rate stood at 0.07%.

On Sunday, the number of residents in Delhi who are now fully vaccinated against the disease crossed the 60 lakh-mark, which represents 40% of the total population in the city that is eligible to get a COVID vaccine.

Thirty patients recovered in a span of 24 hours, taking the number of active cases in the city to 386 on Sunday. The number of patients in home isolation as on Sunday stood at 115, while those in hospitals was 235. Out of 11,750 hospital beds reserved for COVID-19 patients, 11,515 were vacant. Of the 3,539 COVID ICU beds in the city, 3,472 were vacant at 9 pm on Sunday, as per the Delhi government’s online Corona dashboard. Additionally, out of 1,336 ICU beds with ventilators, 1,300 were vacant.

With the government vaccination centers being closed on Sunday, the number of vaccines administered was just 18,400 till 10 pm on the day. However, it was sufficient for the total number of individuals who have received the second dose to reach 60,15,056. Over 40% of the eligible beneficiaries are now fully vaccinated in the national capital.

The total number of vaccine doses administered in the city thus far stands at 1,82,21,362, out of which 1,22,06,306 were the first doses. This indicates that 81.4% of the population eligible for vaccination has received at least one vaccine dose.

Out of the total number doses administered, 62.2% of the doses have been administered to those aged 18-44 years, followed by 25% of total doses administered to those in the 45-59 years age group. Around 12.8% of all doses have been administered to individuals aged 60 or above.

Delhi’s northwest district has administered the highest number of both first and second doses of a COVID vaccine.
