Lowest global COVID-19 death count in a week in almost one year

The weekly COVID-19 deaths globally have declined to levels which have not been seen for almost a year, suggested an AFP count on Monday which was based on official national figures. 

A total of 53,245 deaths were recorded across the globe from September 27 to October 3, with an average of 7,606 deaths per day. This suggests that the pandemic continues to show a downward trend that began at the end of August, after it peaked with around 10,000 deaths a day.

This is the lowest weekly death toll recorded since October 31-November 6, 2020. With about 81 vaccine doses administered per 100 inhabitants worldwide, authorities hope that this fall will continue, despite major disparities between regions… (ET Healthworld – AFP, October 5, 2021)
