Weekly cases of COVID-19 in the country declined to their lowest count in over seven months, with a 12% decline from the past week. This has also been the first week since March 1-7 when an average of fewer than 20,000 cases per day has been reported in the country.

India registered slightly more than 1.37 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the week ending Sunday (October 4-10), coming down from 1.55 lakh during the previous week, according to TOI COVID database. This was the sixth week in a row with a drop in COVID cases in the country after a brief surge towards the end of August.

A total of 1,776 deaths related to COVID were reported in the country during the week from October 4-10, the lowest weekly death count since March 15-21 and a fall of 4.5% from the previous week… (ET Healthworld – TNN, October 11, 2021)
