5-minute test for early detection of dementia cleared by FDA

The US Food and Drug Administration has provided marketing clearance to an artificial intelligence-powered integrated cognitive assessment, called CognICA, for the early detection of dementia.

This is a 5-minute, computerized cognitive assessment which is completed with the help of an iPad. Compared to the conventional pen-and-paper-based cognitive tests, this test has several advantages, stated the company, Cognetivity Neurosciences Ltd, in a news release.

The advantages include high sensitivity to early-stage cognitive impairment, avoidance of cultural or educational bias, and there is no learning effect upon repeat testing. It supports distant, self-administered testing at scale since it is a computerized test… (Medscape)
