The World Health organization said that an increase of 7% was noted in fresh COVID-19 cases across Europe in the past week. This is the only region that has shown a rise in cases globally. The global body said that uneven vaccine uptake was a cause for concern for the continent.
The agency reported that 2.7 million new COVID-19 cases and over 46,000 deaths were reported worldwide last week and the two regions reporting the highest rates of incidence of COVID-19 were Europe and the Americas. The United States registered the highest number of new infections globally, but it still represented a fall of 11%.
