UK records over 50k COVID-19 cases, 115 deaths

The UK registered an additional 52,009 fresh COVID-19 cases and 115 deaths related to the disease, suggested the latest daily numbers.

This is the first time that figure has been over 50,000 since July 17. Data suggest that there have been 327,537 cases in the past week, with an increase of 17.9%. UK recorded 49,139 fresh cases and 179 deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID test on Wednesday.

A total of 49,080 first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered a span of 24 hours, with 49,554,407 people having now received at least one vaccine dose. Overall, 45,460,122 individuals are fully vaccinated.
