Leading pediatricians in India claimed that more than 60% of children in the school-going age groups have natural antibodies against COVID-19 and appealed to state governments to start physical class rooms without further delay.

Dr Dinesh Tomar, national general secretary of the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) India, said that not going to school for such a long duration has already harmed the social, psychological and mental growth of children, adding that it will take years to recover. Dr Tomar also said that Haryana has adopted a strategic policy to discontinue online school. NNF president, Dr Ranjan Kumar Pejaver, stated that Karnataka has also permitted primary schools to reopen from Monday. He said that as long as teachers and staff are fully vaccinated, there is no risk in opening schools.
