Australia has authorized COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for those aged 18 years and above. It is expected that the third dose will be offered from November.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration regulatory authority stated that provisional approval has been given for one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine to be given as a booster jab to adults. The agency mentioned that as per the provisional approval, people aged 18 years and above may receive a third shot, at least six months after the completion of the primary series.

Health Minister Greg Hunt stated that a booster program would start around November 8, provided an approval is received from the country’s immunization advisory body.
