Procurement cost of Zydus Cadila COVID-19 vaccine fixed, roll out to begin soon, says Govt

The price of Zydus Cadila COVID-19 vaccine, ZyCoV-D, has been negotiated with the manufacturer and the vaccine will be rolled out soon under the national vaccination drive, stated a government official.

The DNA-vaccine, which received emergency approval for restricted use in everyone aged above 12 years, will be administered to children only after the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) issues detailed guidelines for vaccination of children against COVID-19.

The official said that the price of the vaccine is considerably lower than what was initially quoted by the manufacturer. The official added that the NTAGI is developing guidelines to specify the priority groups and initially, the vaccine will be available only for those aged above 12 who have specific comorbidities… (ET Healthworld – TNN, October 27, 2021)
