Vaccination provides stronger protection against COVID than previous infection: CDC study

Vaccination protects people more strongly against COVID-19 compared to previous infection, noted researchers led by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The researchers noted in the study that those who had not been vaccinated and had to be hospitalized had a five-fold higher likelihood of having COVID-19 than individuals who had been vaccinated within the last three to six months.

Data was aggregated on 7,000 individuals treated at 187 hospitals in nine states for COVID-like illnesses from January through September. All of them were tested for COVID-19. People who had not been vaccinated were 5.49 times more likely to test positive than those who had been vaccinated within the past three to six months… (CNN, October 29, 2021)
