99% of COVID samples from Delhi in October showed presence of Delta variant: Report

The Delta variant of the coronavirus was detected in at least 99% of the COVID-19 samples sent for genome sequencing in the month of October from Delhi, suggest government data. 

Since the establishment of the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), 7,361 samples were sent for genome sequencing from Delhi and among these, 2,873 contained the Delta variant, stated the data. The data revealed that Delta variant was identified in 99% of the samples in the month of October, in 97% samples in September, in 86% in August, and in 52% in the month of July. In April and May, 54% and 82% of the samples, respectively, were found to have the Delta variant. In June, 90% of the samples were detected to have the Delta variant… (India TV, October 31, 2021)
