Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), can rise sharply in the approaching decades. A study expected NAFLD occurrence in type 1 diabetes patients and discovered associated characteristics and outcomes.

NAFLD studies were examined describing it either as steatosis and/or fibrosis.

The explanations of the study were as follows-

  • Joint NAFLD prevalence was found to be 19.3%, which increased to 22.0% in adults only.
  • The collective prevalence of ultrasound studies were high contrasting MRI, liver biopsy, or transient electrography studies.

So it was determined that there is a considerable prevalence of NAFLD in patients with type 1 diabetes, which is highly dependent on diagnostic modality used and NAFLD definition used.
