India logged 10,423 fresh COVID-19 infections, the lowest in 259 days, while the active cases came down to 1,53,776, the lowest in 250 days, revealed the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The total case tally in the country rose to 3,42,96,237.

The death toll stood at 4,58,880 with 443 new deaths reported, as per the data updated at 8 am.

The daily increase in new COVID-19 cases has been below 20,000 for 25 days in a row and has been below 50,000 daily new cases for 128 straight days.

The active cases now constitute 0.45% of the total infections, the lowest since March last year. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the country stood at 98.21%, again the highest since March last year. A drop of 5,041 cases was registered in the active COVID-19 caseload in 24 hours.
