COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters Rolled Out in Australia as Restrictions Ease

Australia started administering booster doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Monday as more curbs were eased amid a ramped up vaccination drive.

The country’s vaccination rate has picked up pace since July. Sydney and Melbourne have been ramping up immunizations before gradually easing the restrictions. New South Wales is nearing a 90% double-dose vaccination rate in people aged above 16 years.

Now there are no restrictions on the number of fully vaccinated guests at homes, and restaurants and entertainment venues can also allow more patrons. Stadiums have also been allowed to operate at full capacity.

At 181,600 cases and 1,827 deaths, Australia′s COVID-19 figures are among the lowest in the developed nations… (NDTV – Reuters, November 8, 2021)
