Central pain sensitization improves post bariatric surgery

Weight loss following bariatric surgery was associated with improvements in pain sensitization among obese patients with chronic knee pain at one year, according to a study reported online in Arthritis Care & Research. The pressure pain thresholds increased by 38.5% at the patella and by 30.9% at the wrist in patients who had undergone either laparoscopic roux-en-y gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy
