New Zealand eases COVID restrictions

Shops and malls in New Zealand′s Auckland opened their doors for the first time in three months on Wednesday as the city started to gradually reopen.

Libraries, museums and zoos have also allowed visitors as COVID-19 curbs were eased amid a surge in vaccination rates. The hospitality sector continues to remain closed. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the hospitality sector will be allowed to reopen as soon as Auckland reaches its vaccination target. Schools in Auckland can reopen for face-to-face learning from November 17. Around 84% of the eligible people in Auckland have received their second vaccine doses thus far. The country has one of the lowest COVID-19 cases in the world with less than 8,000 infections and 32 deaths reported… (Reuters, November 10, 2021)
