China Suspects Clothing Deliveries Spreading COVID-19

China is taking extreme COVID-19 containment measures and has cautioned that the virus could be transmitted through parcels sent in the mail.

Authorities ordered people who had received, or handled, packages from a children′s clothing maker in the northeastern Hebei province, to get tested after three workers at the company were found to have COVID. The health commission in Guangxi described the situation as a ‘COVID-related mail chain.

In Hebei, 300 packages of clothing from the company, Haohui Ecommerce Co., have been tested. Officials have stopped parcel-delivery services in the cities of Xinji and Jinzhou, and the town of Shenze. All the tests returned negative. The country is also inspecting goods, including imported frozen food, for the virus… (NDTV – Bloomberg News, November 12, 2021)
