China is taking extreme COVID-19 containment measures and has cautioned that the virus could be transmitted through parcels sent in the mail.

Authorities ordered people who had received, or handled, packages from a children′s clothing maker in the northeastern Hebei province, to get tested after three workers at the company were found to have COVID. The health commission in Guangxi described the situation as a ‘COVID-related mail chain.

In Hebei, 300 packages of clothing from the company, Haohui Ecommerce Co., have been tested. Officials have stopped parcel-delivery services in the cities of Xinji and Jinzhou, and the town of Shenze. All the tests returned negative.
