The risk of stillbirth increases about two-fold among women with COVID-19 compared to those without the infection. The risk increased around four-fold when the Delta variant was dominating, noted a large US government study.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted an analysis of over 1.2 million deliveries from March last year through September this year from a large US hospital database. Stillbirths were found to be rare, accounting for 8,154 deliveries (0.65%). However, when statistical methods were used to account for the effect of other variables, stillbirths appeared to be 1.47 times more frequent among women with COVID-19 before Delta, 4.04 times higher after Delta dominance, and 1.90 times more common overall… (NDTV – AFP, November 20, 2021)
