The national president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Dr. JA Jayalal, addressed the formal inaugural function of the Nimacon on a virtual platform. He said IMA was like a family and the organization was worried about protecting the professional dignity of doctors. He was also concerned about the death of a medical student in Yavatmal and the arrest of the doctors from the Ahmednagar hospital fire incident.

He praised the efforts of doctors during Covid-19 especially Dr. Sanjay Deotale and his team, and appreciated that the highest numbers of activities were conducted by the IMA Nagpur chapter.

The function was presided by Dr. Ashok Adhao, the past national president and patron of IMA MS and IMA Nagpur. Dr. Prashant Nikhade, the chairman of the scientific committee of Nimacon for this year, said that the sessions were planned meticulously to raise awareness about the post-pandemic challenges and the recent advances in the field of medicine. Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar and Dr. Prashant Nikhade were felicitated as ‘Corona Warrior’ by National IMA. Dr. Ashish Satav, the chief functionary of MAHAN Trust, received the IMA’s prestigious Dr. Wankar Lifetime Achievement Award for the health care and social awareness services in the tribal Melghat region. Dr. Ashok Adhao, Dr. YS Deshpande, Dr. Manjusha Giri, Dr. Sarita Ugemuge, Dr. Neha Badkhal, and Dr. Sachin Gathe were also present and actively participated in the ceremony.
