New Delhi reported 7,128 dengue cases which is the highest caseload since the chikungunya and dengue outbreak in 2015. More than 1800 dengue cases were recorded over the past week, but no new deaths were reported. The highest number of cases was reported in North Delhi areas such as Keshav Puram and Civil Lines. Najafgarh and southwest Delhi. Over 600 people who tested positive for dengue were untraceable, while 219 people were not Delhi residents.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister, assured that the alarming situation would improve within 7-10 days. Delhi High Court has circulated a notice to report the action plan for the Dengue outbreak to the government and North Delhi Municipal Corporation. The Union Health Ministry has sent high-level teams to support the nine states and Union Territories to control and manage the high dengue cases.

Health experts stated that Covid-19 restrictions last year helped to control dengue cases. This year, maximum cases were recorded in October and November due to changing weather conditions and relatively lower temperatures post-monsoon, promoting mosquitoes breeding. In December, when temperatures dip further, breeding stops, so dengue cases also start declining. The civic data recorded mosquito breeding cases in 1.85 lakh houses and issued legal notices to 1.4 lakh people.
