Flattening and deflation of the ageing midface skin are due to the wasting of soft tissues. Polynucleotides Highly Purified Technology has shown to increase dermal hydration, elasticity, fibroblasts vitality and activity.

  • A study evaluated Polynucleotides Highly Purified Technology for the middle third rejuvenation in 40 real-life ambulatorily treated women.
  • It was an open-design, exploratory prospective cohort study.
  • Three treatment sessions were rendered-
  • At baseline= 2-ml prefilled syringe containing 10 mg/ml Polynucleotides Highly Purified Technology, 10 mg/ml hyaluronic acid, 200 mM mannitol- as intradermic gel,
  • After 3 weeks= 2-ml prefilled syringe containing 20 mg/ml Polynucleotides Highly Purified Technology intradermic gel

o After 6 weeks involved same treatment as the baseline.

  • Supplemental treatment for periocular and eyelid areas, with specifically formulated Polynucleotides Highly Purified Technology (7.5 mg/ml), was given if needed.
  • Assessments were done using-

o Sequential photographs of the facial middle third after all sessions;

o Scoring in 10-cm Visual Analogue Scales for overall skin quality and texture, skin quality determinants, scar appearance, and subjective    satisfaction.

The following observations were made-

  • Notable improvements were observed in the overall skin quality and texture, along with highly significant improvements in wrinkles and skin roughness, elasticity, and brightness.
  • Post-acne scars witnessed a decrease in severity scores from 7.6 ± 1.32 to 4.2 ± 2.13.
  • The individual satisfaction score at the end of treatment was: 0.8 ± 0.28.

It was thus concluded that Polynucleotides Highly Purified Technology can serve as a valuable option for facial middle third rejuvenation. Further trials are warranted.
