Antibodies from Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine may reduce after 6 months

In a new study, accepted for publication in the Journal of Medical Biochemistry, the antibodies generated in response to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine were significantly reduced in just 6 months.

The investigators also noted that an individual’s age or sex had an impact on the number of antibodies developed in response to the vaccine. They assessed data from 787 healthcare workers, 21-75 years of age, in Verona, Italy. The participants had been administered two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Investigators assessed the antibody levels prior to first vaccination, after the second vaccination, and 1, 3, and 6 months after the second dose. There was more than 50% reduction in the antibody levels within 6 months of the second jab. People aged below 65 years had more than double the number of antibodies in comparison with those aged 65 years or above over 6 months following the second dose… (Medical News Today, November 26, 2021)
