Dozens of COVID Cases on Flights from South Africa to Amsterdam

Dutch health authorities stated that dozens of individuals arriving in Amsterdam on two flights from South Africa on Friday likely had COVID-19 infection. The authorities were conducting further testing to determine if the people are infected with the Omicron variant.

Nearly 600 passengers arrived at Amsterdams Schiphol Airport on the two flights and were subjected to testing because of concerns over the new variant. Based on initial testing, the health ministry stated that there may be nearly 85 positive cases among the passengers. It was stated that those with a positive test result will be isolated at a hotel at or near Schiphol. The Dutch government had banned all air travel from southern Africa early on Friday… (NDTV – Reuters, November 27, 2021)
