Omicron six times more transmissible than Delta: Experts

The new variant of concern B.1.1.529, or Omicron, may not respond to monoclonal antibody therapy, worry experts.

As per initial analysis of Omicron infections in South Africa and other places, it has been suggested that the variant has a 6-fold higher potential to spread compared to the Delta variant. Experts also suggest that it could evade the immune system and may cause vaccine breakthrough infections.

The Delta variant is known to respond to monoclonal antibody therapy. However, the Delta plus did not respond to it. Now Omicron seems to be the second variant that may not respond to monoclonal antibody therapy.
