Amid concerns of the Omicron variant, COVID-19 vaccine booster shots will be offered to all people aged above 18 years in the UK in an attempt to curb a potential new wave of infections due to the new variant.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation made recommendations expanding the eligibility for booster shots and stated that the minimum interval between the second vaccine dose and booster shot should be decreased from six to three months. Children aged between 12 and 15 years should also be invited for a second dose, said experts.
