Singapore's COVID-19 vaccination rate reaches 96% of eligible population

The COVID-19 vaccination rate in Singapore has increased to 96% of the eligible population. Authorities are gearing to administer booster vaccine doses amid Omicron variant fear.

As of November 29, 96% of the eligible people in Singapore had received full vaccination. That amounts to nearly 86% of the total population of around 5.5 million. 

Singapore had prohibited the entry of unvaccinated people in shopping malls from mid-October, and stricter rules will now be imposed from January 1, which will include allowing only vaccinated people to enter workplaces. Booster shots have been administered to 26% of the population thus far.

As of Tuesday, Singapore has not detected any cases of Omicron variant. However, it was reported earlier that two travelers from Johannesburg who tested positive for the variant in Sydney had transited through the Changi airport… (Reuters, December 1, 2021)
