Two doctors of the civic-run Nair hospital, who were suspected to delay treatment of victims of gas cylinder blast in BDD Chawl area in Worli on Tuesday, were suspended by The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The four victims including a five-month-old child who were injured in the fire were taken to the Nair hospital where a video clip showed that no prompt attention were given to the victims. The child later died in Kasturba Hospital where he had been shifted. Hospital dean Dr Ramesh Bharmal had ordered a departmental inquiry of the incident.

To mark a protest against the delay in the treatment, eleven corporators of the BMC also resigned from the Public Health Committee.
