A doctor couple Dr Vikrant Suryawanshi and his wife Dr Shweta Suryawanshi from Latur in Maharashtra were arrested for negligence during surgery resulting in the death of 27-year-old Revati Gavkare. A complaint was filed by the deceased′s father who stated that his daughter was admitted to the hospital after she fractured her shoulder bone and only minor surgery was advised. Revati Gavkare was anaesthetized on the night of October 6, 2020, and she never regained consciousness and was declared dead.

As the MIDC police station failed to register a case despite a report by the Medical Board, the court of the judicial magistrate ordered MIDC police to register a case against the doctor couple on Friday under section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
