Mixing Pfizer, AstraZeneca vaccines with Moderna yields better immune response: Study

A study conducted in the UK that evaluated mixing of COVID-19 vaccines has noted a better immune response when people received a first dose of AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and a Moderna shot nine weeks after the first jab.

A total of 1,070 volunteers were included in the study. Researchers at the University of Oxford noted that if the AstraZeneca vaccine was followed by a Moderna or Novavax jab, there were higher antibodies and T-cell responses in comparison with two doses of AstraZeneca shot. The study also showed that a dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine followed by a Moderna jab yielded better results compared to two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
