The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that immunocompromised individuals or those who received an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine should get a booster dose to protect against the declining immunity.

The recommendation was made after a meeting of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunisation on Tuesday which was held to determine the need for COVID-19 boosters.

SAGE chair, Alejandro Cravioto, said that they support equity in vaccine distribution and the use of a third dose only in those who have underlying health problems or people who have been administered an inactivated vaccine.
