First death with Omicron variant reported in UK

At least one death has been reported in the UK with the highly mutated Omicron variant, stated Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The PM said that the new variant was also leading to hospitalizations, and the best thing that could be done at present was to get booster shots. Health Secretary Sajid Javid said that Omicron accounted for 20% of COVID-19 cases in England. The PM has now set a new target stating that all adults in England be offered a booster jab by the end of this month.
