A patient should never be denied treatment due to financial constraints.

Patients have a right to receive treatment regardless of their socioeconomic status, as described in the NABH/DMAI Patients’ Charter. 

The WMA 2005 Declaration of Lisbon on the Rights of the Patient also states: “every person is entitled to medical care of good quality without discrimination to appropriate medical care”.

Article 21 of the Constitution of India guarantees protection of life and personal liberty to every citizen. Article 14 of the Constitution of India provides for ‘Equality before law’.
