Scientists at the University of Cambridge have started a clinical trial of a needle-free air-powered COVID-19 vaccine, which could possibly help fight future variants.

The next generation vaccine, which is administered through a powerful stream of air that delivers the vaccine dose into the skin, has been developed by Professor Jonathan Heeney at the University of Cambridge and DIOSynVax. The first trial volunteer will be given the vaccine this week at the NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility.

Heeney said that the vaccine is innovative, both in the way how it primes the immune system and the way it is delivered. The DIOS-CoVax vaccines target parts of the virus structure which are common to all beta-coronaviruses… (NDTV –PTI, December 14, 2021)
