Fatigue, poor sleep persist even after a year in long COVID patients

A study looking into the effects of long COVID has found that most hospitalized COVID-19 patients who had persisting symptoms from the infection had little improvement after one year.

Around 7 in 10 patients with long COVID experienced symptoms such as fatigue, muscle pain, lack of sleep and breathing difficulties 12 months after hospital discharge, reported the study. There was very little or no improvement compared to seven months earlier. Researchers assessed 2,320 adults across the United Kingdom who had been hospitalized with COVID-19. Those who had the most severe forms of long COVID were found to have a greater number of after-effects in comparison with those who had milder symptoms.
