Third dose to be of same COVID-19 vaccine as two earlier jabs in India

About three crore healthcare and frontline workers will be eligible in January to receive the ‘precaution dose’ of COVID-19 vaccine that will be administered after an interval of nine months from the second dose, stated official sources.

The third dose will also be offered to around three crore people aged above 60 years with co-morbidities. It will be of the same vaccine that the person had received in the primary series of vaccination.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that vaccination against COVID-19 for children aged 15-18 years will start from January 3. The administration of precaution dose of COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare and frontline workers and for those aged over 60 with co-morbidities will start from January 10… (ET Healthworld – TNN, December 27, 2021)
