Israel Tests Second Booster Dose to Fight Omicron

One-hundred-fifty healthcare workers were administered a second COVID-19 booster shot at a hospital in Israel on Monday as part of an experiment to determine if the additional booster shot provides more protection against the highly mutated Omicron variant.

The data will be submitted to the Israeli Health Ministry in around two weeks, stated a hospital spokesperson. The health ministry will then take a decision on whether to approve a second booster for the general population. According to the data shared by the health ministry on Saturday, 1,118 confirmed Omicron cases had been found in the country, with 723 cases identified in international travelers.

The government of Israel has promoted vaccines in an attempt to curb COVID-19 and around 64% of the population has received two vaccine doses, while 45% has received a booster jab. On Monday, the country’s Health Ministry also reduced the interval between second and third doses to three months from five months recommended earlier… (Medscape)
