CDC cuts recommended COVID-19 isolation and quarantine time

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reduced the recommended time that people are required to isolate after testing positive for COVID-19 from 10 days to 5 days if they are asymptomatic, and if they wear a mask around others for at least five more days.

The recommended time has also been reduced for people to quarantine after exposure to the virus to 5 days if they are vaccinated. The agency further stated that people who are fully vaccinated and have received a booster dose may not need to quarantine at all.

According to the CDC, people whose symptoms are improving may also leave their homes after five days, adding that those who have fever should stay at home till the fever persists… (CNN, December 28, 2021)
