Obesity is an independent risk factor for higher morbidity and mortality in COVID-19 patients.

Obese persons have impaired immune system, are in hypercoagulable and pro-inflammatory state and are a reservoir for COVID-19 virus.

Associated comorbid conditions make them more vulnerable for severity of disease.

Keeping ideal weight is the key factor.

Obese persons have to be vigilant and in case they develop any symptoms, must seek medical attention early.

They must keep their BP, sugar under control and take their medicines regularly. They must also be in regular touch with their treating physician.
