Number of hospitalized COVID patients in New York doubles in last 10 days

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in New York increased about two-fold over the past ten days amid Omicron spread, suggest latest data updated on Governor Kathy Hochuls website.

A total of 4,452 COVID-19 patients were admitted in New York hospitals on December 21. Updated data released on January 1 showed that the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 had increased to 8,451. Among all the COVID-19 patients hospitalized in New York, 1,112 were reported to be in intensive care. On December 21, this figure was 828.

New York registered 88 COVID-related deaths on Saturday. Governor Hochul urged people to get their second vaccine dose as early as possible and also asked eligible people to get their booster shots.
