COVID-19 Vaccines May Have Slight Effects on Menstrual Cycle

Women vaccinated against COVID-19 noted a slight, non-significant change in the length of their menstrual cycle in comparison with those who were not vaccinated, suggested a retrospective cohort study.

Women experienced less than 1-day increase in cycle length following the first (0.71 day increase, 98.75% CI 0.47-0.94) and second (0.91-day increase, 98.75% CI 0.63-1.19) doses, compared with the 3 months prior to getting vaccinated, noted researchers. Unvaccinated patients had no significant change in cycle length over the study duration. The length of menses was not changed in both the study groups. In adjusted models, those who received one dose had a 0.64-day increase in their menstrual cycles, while those who received a second dose had a 0.79-day increase, when compared with unvaccinated patients.
