India reached a major milestone in its vaccination drive on Friday as the country administered over 150 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines in less than one year. The figure includes 2 crore first vaccine doses to those in the 15-17 years age group.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “remarkable day” for India’s vaccination program. Over 91% of the eligible adults have been administered at least one vaccine dose, and more than 66% of those aged above 18 years have received both vaccine doses. In addition, over two crore teenagers aged 15-17 years have been administered the first dose of Covaxin, which amounts to 27% of the estimated 7.4 crore adolescents in this age group… (TOI, January 8, 2022)
