Recently released studies have confirmed the T-cell connection to establish that Omicron has chances of causing milder disease than Delta variant. The Omicron variant has mutations that can cheat the antibody response, however, they are still susceptible to the killer cells. This partly explains the reason why the disease is stopped before it gets more serious. 

Earlier studies showed that Omicron variant was significantly less capable in binding to lung cells and most of the people infected in South Africa and UK were either vaccinated or had a past infection. These factors contributed to the possibly reduced virulence of the variant.
