Semaglutide induces more weight loss compared to liraglutide: Study

A study comparing injectable GLP-1 receptor agonists has shown that semaglutide seems to be better than liraglutide for inducing weight loss.

In the randomized phase IIIb STEP 8 study of 2.4 mg semaglutide, 3.0 mg liraglutide, and matching placebo for both, individuals who received semaglutide with diet and exercise had a 9.4% greater average loss in baseline weight in comparison with those who were given liraglutide, reported researchers in JAMA. During the 68-week trial, overweight or obese adults, without diabetes, receiving semaglutide had an average weight loss of 15.8% compared to an average loss of 6.4% with liraglutide. Additionally, people who received semaglutide had a higher likelihood of attaining weight loss in comparison with liraglutide… (Medpage Today)
