The study of dermatological science commenced during the ancient times, which has transformed ever since. Skin diseases have been mentioned in Egyptian papyri and in Hippocratic writings.

The 18th and 19th centuries marked the first classifications of dermatoses, diagnostic methods and drug treatments. The 20th century brought forth scientific and technological revolution and introduced new therapeutic resources and surgical and esthetic procedures.

The medical community should be made aware of the historical adoption of processes to aid in the understanding of the origins that supported one of the most relevant specialties in the currentmedical scenario.
