On Sunday, the Director of Puducherry Health and Family Welfare Services Dr G Sriramulu reported that in the last 1 week, 30 health department staff including 12 doctors tested positive and were undergoing treatment.

He further said that the Government Hospital for Chest Disease had been converted to a Covid Care Center. Out of the 180 beds, 43 were occupied by patients on Sunday and additionally, 160 beds were arranged in Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital.

The health department also stated that 1,160 new positive cases were recorded in the union territory, taking the total toll to 1,37,710. The total recoveries stood at 1,28,021, including 142 new recoveries. The total number of deaths reported was 1,887 in the UT.

Several private medical colleges were requested to admit Covid-19 patients under government quota and transfer patients to other hospitals by informing them in advance
