In 1 year of vaccination drive, 70% adults fully vaccinated against COVID: Govt

India’s COVID-19 vaccination program completed its first year on Sunday, with 70% of the country’s adults having received two doses, and 93% having been administered at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the healthcare workers for a year of hard work and their exceptional role. Till Sunday evening, nearly 1.565 billion vaccine doses had been administered across the country. Of these, 907.5 million were first doses, 655.8 were second doses, and 4.3 million were precautionary shots. A total of 873.6 million adults (93% of the people aged above 18 years) have been administered at least one dose of the vaccine, and 655.8 million (69.8% of adult population) have been fully vaccinated. About 218 million (23.2%) individuals have received only one dose. A total of 33.9 million doses have been given to around 74 million children in the country aged 15 to 18 years, which covers 45.7% of the age group… (HT, January 17, 2022)
